Fight words.
Prince Harry has enough material for another book and is only cutting samples to spare his family.
The 38-year-old Californian royal told The Telegraph that the original transcription of his explosive memoir, ‘Spare’, was actually double the length of the final draft. And the edited parts were about his father, King Charles, and his brother, Prince William.
He explained that “the first draft was different” with a total of 800 pages, instead of the current 400 pages.
βIt could have been two pounds,β he says this way. And the hardest part was getting things out,β he said.
“There are things that have happened, especially between me and my brother, and to some extent between me and my father, that I just don’t want the world to know about. Because I don’t think they would ever forgive me,” the Duke of Sussex added.
He further noted that he had trouble deciding what made the final cut because he was aware that his family considered writing a book “an absolute no”.
Harry also claimed the media had “a ton of dirt on my family, I know they have, and they’re sweeping it under the rug for juicy stories about someone else.”
Despite editing his book, he kept some pretty juicy details, including the issues between his wife, Meghan Markle, and the royal family.
In one instance, he recounts a physical fight between him and William over Markle, which resulted in the heir to the throne pushing Harry to the ground.
He also accused the Prince and Princess of Wales of being less welcoming of Markle, ignoring her when they were both students at Eton, being jealous that he invented the concept of the Invictus Games and encourage him to wear a Nazi costume. costume at an infamous fancy dress party.
However, not all searches were so serious. He even drew attention to his brother’s “alarming” baldness in the book.
The prince acknowledged he knew he was “going to get trashed” for including details of his family, but defended the decision by insisting it was impossible to tell his story without their inclusion.
He also explained that he feels “responsible” to reform the monarchy for the sake of his two nephews and niece, Prince George, 9, Princess Charlotte, 7, and Prince Louis, 4.
βI know that out of these three children, at least one will end up like me, the reserve one. And it hurts, it worries me,” he said before admitting that Prince William “made it very clear to me that his children are not my responsibility.”
The renegade royal also demanded that the royal family apologize to his wife.
“Because you know what you did, and I now know why you did it.” And you were caught off guard, so come clean and we can all move on.
He said no one listened when he sounded the alarm.
“That’s the saddest part about it – it was all so preventable. But they just couldn’t help it,” he added.
Despite criticism of the book, Harry stressed that it was not there to bring down the House of Windsor.
“It’s not about trying to bring down the monarchy – it’s about trying to save them from themselves,” he claimed. “I know I will be crucified by many people who say this.”
